Privacy Policy

We have updated our privacy rules in concordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU. These privacy rules will be effective as of the 25th of May, 2018.

1. Information You Share With Us

We require certain information to provide our services to you. For example, you must have an account or so called ‘managed account’ in order to do the online lessons. When you choose to share the information below with us, we collect and use it to operate our services.

Basic Account Information

You can create an account to get access to our content. If you do choose to create an account, you must provide us with a valid email address and password. In addition you may further provide other, non-personal, information such as your nickname, date-of-birth, and/or platform preferences on your personal Profile Page. This information is provided on a completely voluntary basis and will be combined with your personal information, i.e. your email address or managed account address.

We only collect personal data that is necessary for the functioning of the system and so that students can follow their lessons.

We receive certain information when you use our services. Like the information you share with us, we use the data below to operate our services.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data that is stored on your computer or mobile device. Like many websites, we use session and “rememberme” cookies to operate our services. Our services will not function properly if you disable these session cookies.

Log Data

We receive information when you view content on or otherwise interact with our services, which we refer to as “Log Data,” even if you have not created an account. For example, when you visit our websites or sign into our services we may receive information about you. This Log Data includes information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, and device information. We also receive Log Data when you click on, view, or interact with links on our services. We use Log Data to operate our services and ensure their secure, reliable, and robust performance. For example, we use Log Data to protect the security of accounts.

We use information you provide to us and data we receive to make inferences to help us better design our services and content for you.

3. Information We Share and Disclose

As a rule no personal data will be passed on to third parties. In the limited circumstances where we (have to) disclose your private personal data, we do so subject to your control, because it’s necessary to operate our services, or because it’s required by law.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Privacy Policy, we may preserve, use, or disclose your personal data if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety of any person; to protect the safety or integrity of our platform, including to help prevent spam, abuse, or malicious actors on our services, or to explain why we have removed accounts from our services; to address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect our rights or property or the rights or property of those who use our services. However, nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that you may have to a third party’s, including a government’s, request to disclose your personal data.

Affiliates and Change of Ownership

In the event that we are involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your personal data may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. This Privacy Policy will apply to your personal data as transferred to the new entity.

Non-Personal Information

It is possible that anonymized data on the behavior of students will be used for scientific research. For example, to gain insight into how we can improve the lessons.

4. Managing Your Personal Information With Us

You control the personal data you share with us. You can access or rectify this data at any time. You can also delete your account.

Accessing or Rectifying Your Personal Data

All the data collected can be viewed from within the online Robomind Academy environment.

Backups of Log Data are kept for a maximum of two months.

If you have registered an account you can access, correct, delete, or modify your account settings on your personal Profile Page. In addition you can download certain account information, like the program you wrote to solve a challenge in RoboMind Academy or a diploma earned after successfully completing a course.

Deletion

We keep Log Data for a maximum of 2 months. You can delete your account any time on your Profile Page. When you do so your account will deleted and cannot be restored.

Students and teachers have the option to remove their own data from within the online Robomind Academy environment.

5. How secure is my personal information?

Data and programs are protected as much as possible within the framework of an environment without costs. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, to maintain data accuracy, and to ensure the appropriate use of the information, we utilize reasonable and appropriate physical, technical, and administrative procedures to safeguard the information we collect and process.
